Beginner Driver Training Course

Learn to drive with confidence and be comfortable behind the wheel. CAA has more than 50 years of experience teaching beginner drivers the skills they need to navigate the road safely and securely.

Whether you enrol at CAA Driver Training or at an independent school that has passed our rigorous approval process to join the CAA Approved Driving School Network, you will follow the same expert-led, safety-focused curriculum.

Course Information

The MTO-approved CAA How To Drive Beginner's course includes a total of 40 hours of classroom and in-car training, giving you the knowledge and skills you need to get your licence and get on the road.

Graduates will be registered with the Ministry of Transportation, enabling them to apply for the G2 test four months earlier!

Potential insurance savings

Since the Beginner Driver Education Student Record is recognized by the insurance industry, graduates may be eligible for discounted insurance premiums.

FREE CAA membership

Graduates of the MTO-approved CAA Driver Training course receive a FREE 12-month CAA Basic membership.
Included in the Course
  • Classroom instruction: everything from the basics, to handling driving risks (25 hours)
  • In-car instruction: practical road lessons that give you essential driving skills
    • Automatic transmission (10 hours) / Manual transmission* (where available, 12 hours)
  • FREE CAA How To Drive textbook for future reference

*All in-car lessons are private and arranged directly with the instructor for maximum convenience. Home pick-up and manual transmission vehicle training are subject to availability.

Graduates of the CAA How to Drive Beginner Driver Education Course will receive a one-year free CAA Basic membership. Graduates must call in or visit caasco.com/graduate to activate their membership. Graduates will be added to an existing household primary membership. Free CAA Basic memberships are non refundable, non-transferable, have no cash value, after one year renewal rates and taxes apply, and must be redeemed within one (1) year of course start date.
