The Glare - Are you a distracted driver?

Our Members recount their personal distracted driving experiences receiving or giving a glare:

"I was travelling recently on a by-pass highway when I noticed a large truck weaving behind me as it entered the highway. When the truck pulled up behind me, I realized that the driver was busy text-messaging someone, not paying attention to the road."

"One Saturday morning a number of years ago, I was driving from yard sale to yard sale and I was distracted as I was trying to read my list of sales that I wanted to go to. I drove into a ditch and up onto a front lawn. I received a ‘glare’."

"On a hot summer day I saw a man driving with a small dog on his lap while eating an ice cream cone weaving in his lane."
- On Highway 93 in Midland

"Driving along with our 3 year old granddaughter in the back seat, she let out a yell about a bee in the car. I drove right through a 3 way stop sign but the only one there was a policeman. After receiving a $100.00 fine and 3 points later, I got the bee out."

"I have a GPS (Global Positioning Unit) and have to be extra cautious when looking at the device while driving. It is like TV, if it is on, your eyes are attracted to it."

"Some years ago a guy driving a car next to mine kept looking at me. I looked back; after all, he was cute! Unfortunately he forgot to also look forward and crashed into the car in front of his."

"My daughter was driving on the 401 with 2 passengers around 9:00 pm when a woman talking on her cell phone lost control of her Honda and sideswiped our car. Both cars ended up spinning and turning 360 degrees, there was major damage to the car."

"While driving to work on the 404, a car came up beside me weaving back and forth within inches of hitting me. On closer look, the woman was talking on her cell phone while putting on her makeup and steering the car with her knees."

"A man was trying to drive his car north on Western Road while operating a video camera. He did not stay in his lane and almost rear-ended the car in front of him."
