Queen's Park

We're committed to ensuring CAA members are the face and voice of our organization. That means whatever is important to you - whether it's the state of our roads, winter driving, distracted driving, the environment or traffic safety - is also important to us. Our dedicated public and government affairs and traffic safety team continue to work diligently on your behalf to bring your views to our elected officials, police partners, media partners and the general public.

Our success to date

Some of the key issues we've succeeded at include:

  • Carpooling initiatives, including HOV Lanes
  • Distracted driving, including a ban on cell phone use for novice drivers
  • Increasing funding for roads and bridges
  • Opposition to toll roads
  • A need to dedicate gas tax revenues to improving infrastructure
  • Getting Ontario's worst roads repaired
  • Traffic safety initiatives including observing speed limits, increasing law enforcement capabilities and street racing
  • Watch for bikes program
  • Pedestrian safety, especially children around school zones
  • Proper vehicular maintenance

CAA in the media

Our media partners have come to view CAA as a trusted authority on all road, travel, insurance and traffic safety issues. They refer to our organization as a 'traffic safety watchdog.' Perhaps you've seen us lately on:

  • CTV News - Senior driving mobility (Shifting Gears - Gravenhurst)
  • National Post - Worst Roads campaign
  • The Windsor Star - Distracted driving
  • 680 News - Toronto's crumbling infrastructure (Oct 30)
  • CBC News - Pedestrian safety at crosswalks
  • Global News - the state of disrepair in Toronto (Oct 29)
  • Toronto Star and Sun - Senior driver issues (Oct 14)
