Road Safety
Every motorist has the responsibility to drive safely and respect the surrounding environment. CAA has been an advocate of safe driving practices for more than 100 years. Many of our initiatives are designed to make the roads safe for drivers and pedestrians. Whether it's helping school children safely across busy roads, teaching young drivers how to drive safely, or helping mature drivers stay behind the wheel longer, CAA is active on everyone's behalf.
Keeping children safe
For more than 75 years, the CAA School Safety Patrol program has been helping young children get to and from school safely. But we couldn't do this alone. More than 25,000 elementary student volunteers make this program possible.
Slow Down, Move Over
Ontario has laws for safely passing emergency vehicles on our highways - but tow trucks have been left out. Support our call to the Minister of Transportation to amend the Highway Traffic Act to include tow trucks.
New Cell Phone Legislation
A new Ontario law makes it illegal for drivers to talk, text, type, dial or e-mail using hand-held cell phones.
Helping mature drivers
Driving becomes more challenging as we age. CAA provides information to help mature drivers stay mobile longer.
Driving safely
In Canada alone, there are more than 18.5 million vehicles on the road. That averages more than one vehicle per person. Our roads are more congested than ever before. So, to help you drive safely, we've compiled the following tips on:
- Seasonal driving
- Blind spots
- Driving with infants and children
