There are many dips and uneven road surface. My car has been damaged by the road condition. It is the bumpiest road and unfortunately I have to travel on it everyday. I pay $6500 a year in property taxes, I guess the city is putting my tax money on their meal tabs!

The pavement on this road is in absolutely terrible condition with all kinds of pavement distress (i.e. cracking, pot holes, lack of uniform cross fall etc.) This is an arterial road that should have been reconstructed to urban standards including sidewalks and on street bikelanes at least 20 years ago when the new subdivisions were constructed with development charges money collected from the developments. Please give consideration to doing this work soon.

How can the city allow a road to get like this? Stones inundate the car while driving because there is no smooth pavement left. My parents who live across the street at the retirement living center have much difficulty pushing their walking chair along Kerr St, often having to resort to picking it up off the ground, and placing back on the ground away from the debris and pot holes. Not to mention, THERE IS NO SIDEWALK! What if they, or someone were to fall? This is most unacceptable for an area of Dundas that caters to seniors and young families.

This road is one of the busiest routes on the Mountain due to it's overuse as a bypass of the main Upper James artery and the fact that it borders Mohawk College. This large amount of traffic and major bus service in and around the college has turned the road into a roller coaster where broken pavement and potholes abound. The entries and exits to the college are not big enough nor long enough to safely enter the property. Further south the road has no proper sidewalks and pedestrians and cyclists must take their lives in their feet if they intend to use it. There are several new subdivisions now abutting this road as a main access point which puts even more pressure on this situation. If the city ever goes ahead with turning the Auchmar estate into a museum, patrons will think west 5th resembles the era from which the estate came. Just look at the stonewall surrounding it. City council should be ashamed of themselves for letting the repairs of this road go unattended for so many years.When was the last time road resurfacing done on this stretch of automotive suspension test track? 30 years? Am I wrong? I just can't remember. When Mohawk college goes hat in hand to several levels governments for expansion monies, maybe they should consider asking mom and pop for more money to pave the driveway.I realize there's only so much money to go around but the city has got to take some responsibility get their priorities straight on what roads need to be fixed and when. Don't get me started on Rymal Road West and the 403/ Lincoln Alexander Parkway interchange. Now I know why Lincoln Alexander never learned to drive!

The worse part is the turn onto it from the 8th Concession West. Ruts from turning. They totally repaved the 8th Concession this year and rough paved the 8th from our road to Valens Road....Why couldn't they have done our little dead end section while they were doing all that??? Much cheaper for the city in the long run with maintenance if it's paved. Doesn't have to be smooth black paved but the same paving as the section of the 8th from Westover Road to Valens Road would suffice nicely.

The whole darn thing is one big problem from where you get on it at the QEW exit to where it ends basically in downtown Hamilton near the water. I remember moving to Hamilton and someone told me that taking Burlington Ave was a quick way to get across the city. Not THAT quick.... you have to drive slowly so you have time to avoid the pot holes and all the uneveness in the road. It doesn't help that Burlington Ave handles major truck traffic as well.

The traffic routinely travels 30 - 50 km over the speed limit in a 60 km/hr and 70 km/hr zone. There are a lot of trucks changing lanes, and many potholes. If you drive anywhere close to the speed limit other drivers tailgate you and swerve around slower cars in a dangerous fashion.

A painted crosswalk which leads into a ditch; a danger to children who are taught to cross between the white lines of a crosswalk; a danger to the elderley; a danger to the residents of three group homes in this area - one on West 5th; one on Chester; one on the street behind Chesley St. Many of the residents of these homes are physically or intellectedly handicapped; many use walkers. Cars coming out of Chester Street do not stop at the white line, because they cannot see the oncoming traffic on West 5th St. When winter is here, the snow piled at the corner block any attempts to cross at the crosswalk anyway. 2. A very deep ditch at the corner of West 5th and Chester Streets, where cars and trucks regularly bounce in and out and often lose control of their vehicles. This corner ditch should have a barrier around it; should be marked with a "warning" sign. Although the problem of the busses bouncing in and out of the corner has improved in 2009, last year I had six trips on the bus, where I was not so lucky. It hurts, big time when that happens. And the problem of the cars and trucks continues to leave residents with a dangerous situation. I might add that this is the corner where children cross to go to the public school at the far west end of Chester Street. The crossing guard helps the children cross; there is no other place between Limeridge Rd. and Stone Church Rd. where anyone can cross West 5th safely. 3. West 5th Street in general is in bad shape; is no longer capable of handling the heavy traffic of cars and trucks; there is no safe provision for people who walk; there is no path on the west side of the street; the old asphalt path on the east side of the street has not been resurfaced for a very long time; in places it is on the same level as the road surface, a very present danger to pedestrians; this east side path regularly floods out with each rain storm, so that people have to walk out on the busy highway called West 5th Street.

This road is a mountain access in Hamilton and it twists and turns going up the mountain. Sanatorium is one of the major arteries from the west side feeding into the Buchanan Park area. It is the road (leading into that area) that would be used if coming in off the Linc on Garth. There are two school located in the area. One being a French school that primarily uses bussing to get the children to school. There are no less that 10 busses that come in and out two times a day, 5 days a week to the schools (thats 4 times a day if you did not catch the in and out as well as pick up and drop off). It is a dreadfull street (as I drive it everyday myself).

Not to mention the numerous paint chips and dings in the car body, I live in the north east end, drive down Parkdale or Kenilworth and work in Burlington, there isn?t really an alternative road other than Woodward, which is in just as bad a shape as Burlington Street. Aside from the huge potholes, uneven pavement, hub caps to swirve around and HUGE cracks in the road, there is a school located on this street and none of the signs or speed limits have been addressed to reflect this. The street is still a 60/50km zone with transport trucks using it as a main thoroughway. We have seen a dog get hit and a child in the past few years!!!!!!! We always see dead squirels and cats!!!!! It is always something new on this street and always an adventure....not a fun one, however! I have addressed this with my MP and am still waiting on a final response. School starts in less than a month.

Rymal Rd should have 2 lanes each way, with center media for turning. Also traffic lights are not sincronized. Wastes gas by waiting for red lights. This stretch of road is a disaster riddled with potholes, huge crevasses, and has taken shape of the tires of trucks that travel through daily. For the people that use this road everyday to get to work it takes a huge toll on the cars suspension. I already had to replace the stabilizer bars on my car and my wife in the past had to replace her shocks and struts. I think that I speak for many others in the same situation. The city is being very irrespensible for this stretch of road and something needs to be done. This has been going on for far too long. Lets not forget the motorcyclists out there as well. This is a main artery to the highways that cannot be used by them at all. It is a huge risk. Wake up City of Hamilton and fix Burlington Street. You got the infrastructure funding you needed now use it.

It looks like continental drift is taking place, with two tectonic plates are pulling apart. Starting at the base of Upper Paradise hill and running all the way to the top, there is a canyon in the road, where the tires of my van and car tends to fall into. There is no way to avoid it. I would need to either drive over the yellow line, or hop onto the sidewalk to even attempt a smooth ride. Going down the hill is almost as bad. As you drive and come to a stop, you cannot but have momentary flashes as the plane from Lost comes crashing down.

Train tracks have a huge sink hole, bumps and cracks and divots, pot holes that maintain lots of water during rain falls. This area is a very busy area that is used by all vehicles including Transport trucks. Very hard to drive on with the road like that, it is hard on our vehicles. The road should have 5 lanes and side walks. The traffic is bad. It is supposed to be a highway, not a village road. The road needs major resurfacing between Nebo Rd. and Trinity Church Rd.
