This street has been dug up and patched up for years. It is full of ruts and bumps, uneven pavement. It is an embarassment to the City of Oshawa!

Way too many pot holes and cracks. They repaved Conant, from Simcoe to Ritson, but there was nothing wrong with that road! Why didn't they spend the time and money on Ritston instead? It doesn't make any sense...

I vote this road as the worst road on Earth not Ontario. Highest taxes in the GTA bring nothing but bad roads, councilors who do not listen to anyone, and a new Camaro for the Mayor. The councilor of the area has been fighting for KISS to come here, what about the road to get to the stadium? I think the KISS bus will probably get stuck/damaged... hahahaha

Potholes, Multiple Patches, Rutted, Loose Asphalt, Curbs Crumbling....... Even though this road is the fastest route through Oshawa for me.. I will not use it because of the damage it does to my vehicle.

This road is dispicable. I can't ever remember driving on this road when it was in good condition, and I've been driving for 26 years. Our City Councillors should be ashamed of themselves. And I would be embarassed to invite anybody to Oshawa. For the amount of taxes that we pay, there is no excuse for this road. Why does south Oshawa always get put last on your list of things to do. Are we not good enough? Is south Oshawa not on the same playing field as north oshawa? because that sounds like discrimination to me. I've watched the road crews repair Ritson Rd. N. near Beatrice, Park Rd. north of Bloor st., Stevenson Rd. N of Hwy 2. etc. They seem to tackle all the roads that didn't need repair, yet they ignore the one that needs the most attention. What is the matter with the planning department? Do they not know how to prioritize their work? Maybe they need some coaching? Maybe they are mismanaged? Do any of these terms sound familiar. Thankgod our politicians are not running the country.

The city just patched this road up as an attempt to hide the problems underneath. Hopefully this is just a temporary fix, it seems like they are rebuilding roads that do not need repair but those that do they leave alone. High taxes in Oshawa pay for nothing except a new Camaro for the mayor and lousy roads. Thanks alot Gray and Lutczak. It's time for you to go!

This road has been 'under repair' for 3 years and just gets worse including storm drain run-off from local businesses.

Road has been neglected for years, and is in need of resurfacing. The potholes are terrible.

Potholes, and endless patch repairs make this road a shock absorber's worst nightmare. It isn't just for a short stretch either as Ritson Road stretches from the south to northern limits of the city.

Dangerous potholes. This road actually broke my 1994 Pontiac Transport. I don't know who to blame, GM or the city of Oshawa. I bought my first Chrysler as a replacement.

Ritson Rd. is not a safe road to drive on. Anytime you drive on that road you have to grip the wheel tightly, otherwise you go all over the road cause there are to many bumps in the road.There are to many patches. I personally think that Ritson Rd. is the worst road in Oshawa.

Road is a highly travelled thorough fare from the 401 highway to central and north Oshawa. The area described is full of uneven pavement, filled holes and holes that have not been fixed. Oshawa seems to have a habit of fixing a road and a year or so later is dug up for one reason or another.

This road needs no description; it's famous! Even out-of-towners frequently comment on it as they cash-bang their way along this decrepit broken stretch of road. COME ON OSHAWA, LETS GET THE RECOGNITION WE DESERVE! Vote Ritson Road South as number 1 in Ontario, so Oshawa and Durham can ignore the results for yet another year.

Many potholes in this area, and other than potholes there are a lot of cracks and little bumps, the road is really wearing out, likely from large truck traffic going to General Motors. The lanes are also quite narrow. As a lot of traffic uses this road (especially from GM and the Oshawa train station), I think it is important that the region improves the condition of the road, and can maybe make it able to handle its traffic flow better than it can now.

I think that I found Jimmy Hoffa in one of the pot holes here! This is the worst stretch of road in all of Durham. Other places that have not needed repair have received new paving and yet nothing has been done about this stretch. This is the first piece of Oshawa that new visitors see once they come off the 401 - what a great smooth ride - NOT!

Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!! It is unbelievable how rough the road is to get to the 401 off Ritson Rd. Your car takes a real beating especially when you have to use Ritson regularly to get to the 401. My car suffers every time I need to get on the 401.

The road is in a terrible state of disrepair. There have been so many attempts to patch it that it is no longer of any benefit, in fact it has made it worse. My windshield has pressure cracks which I have no doubt have been contributed to from daily travel on this road. I asked the Region when something would be done, to which they commented Fall 2009 - I will believe it when I see it. It is a 401 access route and needs attention immediately. It will also help to "spruce up" this area of the municipality (also much needed).

Ritson rd. is just flat out terrible. they just keep patching and patching. 3 weeks after the patch is down its a hole again. Alot of the roads in oshawa are like this the northwest corner of Farewell and Wentworth, has a small sink hole or water problem and they never dig deep to find the problem and have patched this intersection/corner and numerous amount of time.

The road is in horrible shape. There are pot holes and bumps all over the road. Since I have moved into the area (1.5 years ago) and take Ritson Road every morning to get to the 401, I have had to replace both wheel bearings on my car and had to get an alignment. When I have lived in other areas and had other cars, I have NEVER had to replace wheel bearings on any car. I believe that the condition of this road is causing damage to my vehicle. The road has been in horrible condition for many years and I am appalled that this road has gone so long without repair, meanwhile roads in North Oshawa have been repaired and widened.

Its ridiculous how bad these street is. I actually get off the hwy one exit after Ritson (Harmony) and backtrack to get home just to avoid driving on Ritson. I do remember reading somewhere that it was going to be fixed, and I have not seen or heard anything else about this.

Cracks, pot holes, uneven ground at one end (closest to Olive) and the road is cracked, uneven and too narrow around the bend at the other. It feels like your off-roading when you're driving down these parts of the street.

This road (Regional) has been in a sorry state for years, the Region refuses to do anything as it is scheduled for major upgrades, but in the meantime, quick fix pot hole patches is what we have had for the past several years.................numerous travelers have had major damage done to their vehicles and still the Region ignores our pleas.

Frost damage over decades has destroyed the pavement, created potholes and made uneven surfaces. The lack by the Region of Durham to properly maintain this section has worsened the problem and made vehicular travel dangerous. Traveling over this section of road means a compromise to one's safety.

The Ritson Rubber Robber: This evil passageway has been in poor condition for several years with only poor cosmetic repairs being performed by road crews during their brief cameo appearances. Personally I think the road crews fear this evil rubber swallowing monster. Good luck trying to keep the kids asleep in their car seats whilst you perform your south Oshawa trek through the washboard surfaced pathway. When travellers proceed southbound on Ritson Road past Olive Avenue, they travel over a CNR bridge. As soon as vehicles start to descend down the bridge, they are faced with a minefield of potholes and uneven pavement. This becomes worse as you travel to the intersection of Ritson and Dean. As you travel through the intersection, vehicles in the right lane move over to the left to avoid the obvious hazards, often forcing vehicles in the adjacent (centre) lane towards oncoming traffic. Just as you think that you have successfully dodged this obstacle course, a pothole under the poorly lighted 401 bridge (in the right lane), sneaks up and swallows your front right tire. My 1992 Saab received a blow to the front right rim and the tie rod broke shortly after this road sneak attack. I witnessed road crews repairing the rubber swallowing monster and thought that all were safe. Two days later, I noticed another car fall victim to the road ogre. Again, another tire and rim fall victim. For those of you wishing to experience the Ritson Rubber Robber, viewing is especially interesting during the spring thaw. The RRR disguises itself as a small puddle, but beware, this is when the road is the most hungry. If you plan to take your family to this event, please be sure to supply sensitive ones with a good pair of ear plugs. The language often proves too offensive to the most seasoned trooper.

CRAZY dips if that stretch of road, feels like you are on a roller coaster. The intersection of Gibb and Thorton if you don't appraoch slowly you WILL become airborn, as I found out that in my old van a few years ago.

The section of Ritson Rd from Bloor to Olive and the section of Bloor Rd from Ritston to Simcoe are easily the worst sections of road in Oshawa. They've been this way for years and it's time they were repaired.

The road has been in disrepair for years. All the patch work is crumbling and causing huge pot holes. Its incredibly difficult to navigate through.

potholes, craters, cracks, you name it! It's like a slalom course in both directions of this section of Ritson Rd. There has probably been more pavement used in patching than it would have taken to repave it.

From Bloor St. to Olve Ave, Ritson road is probably the bumpiest in all of Oshawa. That section is so bumpy and full of holes that it is sometimes difficult to come to a complete stop in time at the traffic lights. The section between Bond and Adelaide is similar.

POT HOLES! It does not make a difference which lane you drive in, north or south bound, the road is in terrible condition. Periodically a truck will be there patting in asphalt, but it does nothing to improve the road conditions.

The road is in terrible shape. Not a nice way for people visiting Oshawa to exit the 401 and head north. I feel sorry for anyone that has to drive this road to and from work on a daily basis.

Don't think a description is required... this road is HORRIBLE! Hurry up and repave it already. Not sure what the highest property taxes in Ontario get us... obviously it isn't properly maintained roads...

Total disrepair and maintenance for several years with many potholes and grooves in the ashphalt which has caused several problems to my automobiles. It's easier to drive on a dirt road.

This road has more dips and bumps that my new car shocks have to be replaced. its from the 410 to Rosland Rd. you cant go the speed limit or the car bounces all over the place. For years it has been like this and getting worse. For the taxes we pay in Oshawa, our roads should be made out of gold or is this money going into the Mayor pocket? Hummmmm

They just keep making patch repairs for years. Now it is just broken patch over broken patch. Wasn't the gasoline tax brought in decades ago to use for road repairs and new roads? Now it just goes to where ever the government wants.

It starts on the bridge going over the railway tracks and goes south of Dean to almost the 401. It's torn up pretty bad from excessive use and it's to such a point where if you don't want a lot of damage to your car you have to slow down to between 20-30 Km/hr.

Pot holes, poor or no warnings of bad spots. Cars are being severely damaged; cars are swerving to avoid potholes. Auto accidents causing property damage, personal injury and even death are waiting to happen, if they have not already. It is cheaper for taxpayers to pay an increase in taxes then to pay for repairs.

There have been pot holes on this road since I moved to Oshawa in 2002. Nothing has been done by Durham Region except to fill them up with asphalt several times a year. This looks like a street in Baghdad after the gulf war. Do these politicians have no shame? When I give visitors directions to my house from the 401 I do not include Ritson road as I am ashamed of it.I now avoid it but who knows what damage has been done to my car already

it has so many cracks, pot hole, we were even in the paper becasue our road it horriable, even though toronto has huge pot hole they get fixed, unlike us they dont want to fix it becasue i will cost to much, but one day something horriable will happen to someone if we dont fix it.

The Entire Road from top to bottom is bad there are portions like the section near Aberdeen St that was fixed last summer but patch work.. most parts are broken and when you drive on them are bumpy and not good on your shocks.. I take Durham Transit Specialized Services and when we hit road like that it makes my chronic pain worse

The road is covered with patched potholes and exceptionally uneven pavement. It the the road that city signage tells visitors to take to get from the downtown area to one of our major shopping centres and the road condition reflects poorly on the city.

Going southbound towards the 401 on Ritson Road you nearly get your teeth rattled out of your head.
