Types of boats we insure

At CAA Insurance and CAA Insurance Brokerage, we do our best to offer you the best rates possible on a wide variety of boats and personal watercrafts. Below are detailed descriptions and pictures of the various boats and personal watercrafts we insure:

Runabout

A runabout is a small motorboat holding between four and eight people and is well suited to moving about on the water. Runabouts can be used for racing, for pleasure activities like fishing and water skiing, or as a ship's tender for larger vessels. Some common runabout boats are bow rider, center console, cuddy and walkaround.

Sailboat

A sailboat is a boat propelled partly or entirely by sails. The term covers a variety of boats that are larger than small vessels (such as sailboards) and smaller than sailing ships. Apart from size, sailboats may be distinguished by hull configuration (monohull, catamaran, trimaran), keel type (full, fin, wing, centerboard etc.), purpose (sport, racing, cruising), number and configuration of masts, and sail plan.

Pontoon Boats

A pontoon is a flat-bottomed boat, simply constructed from closed cylinders such as pipes or barrels or fabricated as boxes from metal or concrete. Pontoon boats are almost foolproof to operate and cannot be sunk. Their shallow draft also reduces damage from submerge collisions and being run aground.

House Boats

A houseboat is a boat that has been designed or modified to be used primarily as a human dwelling. Motorized houseboats (as opposed to the non motorized kind that are moored) usually are flat bottomed and are designed for slow movement on the water. Houseboats are also equipped with full galley, enclosed head, and sleeping berths.

Cabin Cruisers

A cabin cruiser is a type of power boat that usually ranges in size from 25 to 45 feet in length. They provide accommodation for crew and passengers inside the structure of the craft and are generally equipped with a washroom, a galley and at least one berth. Most cabin cruisers have a small dining area and an aft cabin and some cabin cruisers are equipped with heating, air conditioning, and power generators. Most also have water heaters and shore power electric systems.

Trawlers

A trawler is a cruiser-like vessel with a displacement hull that use sails for stability. Trawlers usually have a single diesel engine and are quite slow (7 - 10 knots), long-range boats equipped with a galley (kitchen), head(washroom), and sleeping berths.

Personal Watercraft

A personal watercraft is a recreational watercraft on which the rider sits or stands. Models have an inboard engine driving a pump jet that has a screw-shaped impeller to create thrust for propulsion and steering. Personal watercrafts are available in many sizes and can often accommodate up to four people. Popular personal watercrafts include WaveRunner, Jet Ski and Sea-Doo.
