Famous because of its Samba, Brazil is a land of gorgeous sites, beautiful beaches and exciting people. Besides famous Rio de Janeiro and its Carnaval, a traveller can discover Salvador Bahia, heart of the slave trade in the 19th century; The Iguacu Falls, shared with Argentina and Paraguay and one of the wonders of the world and of course the mighty Amazon River and its beautiful lodges.

  • Day 1: Toronto - Sao Paulo: Fly overnight from Toronto to Sao Paulo, Brazil via a gateway in the USA
  • Day 2: Sao Paulo/Iguacu: Early morning arrival in Sao Paulo to connect with your flight to Iguacu (Brazil). Arrival, welcome by our local representative and transfer to your hotel on the Brazilian side of the falls. Visit the Brazilian side of this natural wonder. Twice as large as Niagara with over 275 cascades, Iguaçu Falls overwhelm the visitor with its majesty and dramatic natural power. Rest of the day at leisure in this amazing setting. Overnight at your hotel.
  • Day 3: Iguacu/Salvador: Breakfast at your hotel Morning at leisure. We suggest an optional thrilling Macuco Falls Safari. Jeeps bring us to the Iguaçu National Park and the banks of the Iguaçu River. You will see interesting flora, and perhaps some fauna, en route, then board zodiacs for an upriver cruise through the Iguaçu Canyon. Early afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Salvador - Bahia's vibrant Afro-Brazilian state capital and former national capital. Welcome and transfer to your hotel for overnight.
  • Day 4: Salvador: Breakfast at your hotel Salvador is an intoxicating tapestry combining African rhythms, Baroque architecture from its colonial Portuguese era and a cuisine heavily influenced by exotic spices and oils. The samba beat is heard on every street corner whilst local women attired in white laced dresses sell tantalizing local delicacies. A morning tour of Cidade Histórica (Historical City) is followed by an afternoon and evening of leisure. Overnight at your hotel
  • Day 5: Salvador/Brasilia: Breakfast at your hotel Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to the fascinating capital city of Brasilia. Arrival, welcome by our local representative and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour highlighting the main attractions of modern Brasilia: its two Presidential Palaces, the main Cathedral and Three Powers Square. Rest the day at leisure. Overnight at your hotel.
  • Day 6: Brasilia/Manaus: Breakfast at your hotel Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Manaus. Upon arrival in Manaus you are welcomed at the airport and transferred to the pier and then to the Ariau Lodge - an ecological hotel in the middle of the jungle, about 35 miles (2-3 hours) from Manaus - located on the Rio Negro and the Ariau Creek, near the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Regional architecture, built on stilts with a 35 meter high observatory tower to allow viewing of the natural setting. Dinner & overnight at lodge.
  • Day 7: Manaus/Amazon: Breakfast at the lodge. Enjoy a jungle nature walk in the morning with a naturalist and return to the lodge for a traditional, regional lunch such as caldeirada (fish stew with vegetables). The afternoon brings a visit to the Caboclos community. These Amazonian residents of mixed race define their wealth by their natural lifestyle in a beautiful surrounding with the rich food sources it provides. Enjoy a unique opportunity to fish for piranha before returning to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
  • Day 8: Manaus/Rio de Janeiro: Before breakfast, enjoy a sunrise tour of the jungle and listen to the thousand noises of the area. Breakfast at the lodge. Return to Manaus for your flight to a city like no other - Rio de Janeiro. Arrival, welcome and transfer to your hotel for overnight.
  • Day 9: Rio de Janeiro: After breakfast ,we depart for a morning exploration of the best of Rio: its famous beaches Copacabana and Ipanema, followed by a spectacular cable car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf. All the while, your senses are truly engaged as you begin to discover what the Cariocas (locals) cannot keep secret - that a visit to Rio is a celebration of life. This afternoon you are free to further explore this city and its life-affirming ethos. Overnight at your hotel
  • Day 10: Rio de Janeiro: Breakfast at your hotel A full day at leisure to further discover the captivating pleasures this city beholds. Suggested excursions include: Train ride to top of Corcovado Mountain. Drive through the Tijuca Rainforest Angra dos Reis and enjoy a full day cruising its tropical islands on a small schooner. Overnight at your hotel
  • Day 11: Rio de Janeiro - Home: Breakfast at your hotel Day at leisure for last minute shopping or simply strolling around. Evening transfer to the airport for your flight to Miami or another gateway in the USA.
  • Day 12: Home: Morning arrival in North America. Connect with your homebound flight.
