Guatemala is the Mayan heart of Central America; its indigenous culture survives in the ancient ruins of Tikal, rituals of Chichicastenango and blazing colors of Mayan dress. The Country of Honduras is home to people from various ancestries such as the Mayan Indians, who left us the Copan Ruins archaeological site, considered one of the most artistically advanced and elaborate of all Mayan cities.

  • Day 1: Toronto - Antigua: Flight from Toronto to Guatemala City via a gateway in the USA. Arrival in Guatemala City, assistance and transfer to the hotel in Antigua for overnight.
  • Day 2: Antigua: Breakfast at the hotel. Founded by Spanish conquistadors on March 10, 1543, Antigua Guatemala retains many historic edifices that qualify it as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the oldest and best-preserved Latin American cities, church ruins and immaculate New Baroque-style Spanish architecture characterize this popular Guatemalan tourist stop. Guided visit of the colonial city . Overnight at the hotel
  • Day 3: Antigua/Iximche/Atitlan/Panachel: Breakfast at the hotel. On your way to Atitlán, visit the remains of Iximche, a fortified city which played the role of capital for one of the Mayas clans. You will discover, near the Pelota playground, a pretty well kept temple which still have some interesting painting murals. You will cruise the Lake and visit the Santiago Atitlán village, which is a typical village nestled around its very particular church. The market offers a sight where the color is the main event: a unique place for the multicolor embroider "hupiles". Return to Panajachel and the rest of the afternoon is free. Overnight stay
  • Day 4: Panachel/Chichicastenango/Quetzaltenango: Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Chichicastenango for free time, a native village which has kept all is authenticity, its famous market: colorful shows every Thursdays and Sundays. On those days, the natives come to the village marker and give the place an animated atmosphere. You will see the traditional costumes, and discovery the social and religious that go back to the ancients natives civilizations. The Mayas come to the Santo Tomas Church to venerate the Catholics saints and their ancient gods. Return to Quetzaltenango. Overnight stay.
  • Day 5: Quetzaltenango/Guatemala City: Breakfast at the hotel. Visit by the hot springs known as the waters Georginas and stock markets Almolonga, San Franciso, Zunil around the end of a visit transfer to Guatemala City. Arrival to the hotel and overnight
  • Day 6: Guatemala City/Copan, Honduras: Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Copan in Honduras, for a guided visit of the Maya site of the same name and overnight. Copan is considered the arts capital of the Maya. The Copan Ruins are located in the western part of Honduras, about 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from the border with Guatemala. Copan - known as Xukpi to the Maya - was the dominant Mayan city in the south of their territory. Its rich stone sculptures and intricate hieroglyphs make Copan a feature attraction along "La Ruta Maya". Arrival to the hotel and overnight
  • Day 7: Copan/Quirigua/Izabal: Breakfast at the hotel. Return to Guatemala and continue to the Izabal region in the Caribbean. Lake Izabal is more than 45 kilometers long and covering about 590 square kilometers. It is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest inhabited by hundreds of bird species, monkeys and many other animals. The waters of the lake are rich in fish. Unique to the lake is the fresh-water sea cow (manatee), a mammal that can weigh up to a ton. This species is in danger of extinction and the manatees are the largest mammals in the country. Visit Quirigua en route, a Maya site with the tallest Maya stella known to date. Arrive in the Rio Dulce or Puerto Barrios in Izabal and transfer to the hotel for overnight.
  • Day 8: Izabal/Livingston/Flores: Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by boat to Livingston, home of the Garifuna. The Garifuna is the only black ethnic group in Guatemala, they came from the slave plantations in the Caribbean and today inhabit Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. Return by boat to the Rio Dulce and then continue by land to the Flores area in the Peten region for overnight. Arrival to the hotel and overnight
  • Day 9: Flores/Tikal/Guatemala City: Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the most important Maya site: Tikal. Guided visit of Tikal with lunch included (no drinks). Tikal is among the world`s travel wonders, many calling it one of the most spiritually powerful spots on earth. The monumental site with its towering pyramids looms out of the thick jungle canopy like stoic sentinels of ancient mysteries. Continue in the afternoon to the airport for the flight to Guatemala City (included). Guatemala`s capital city is the most modern and cosmopolitan city in Central America. Fast paced and vibrant, Guatemala City (or Guate as it`s referred to locally) is a wonderful blend of old and new and possesses a distinct Latin charm. Arrival , welcome by our local representative and transfer to the hotel for overnight.
  • Day 10: Guatemala City - Toronto: Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Toronto via a gateway in the USA.
