The Kingdom of Thailand is, by far, the most popular destination for tourists in southeast Asia. Thailand offers travellers a fascinating combination of breathtaking natural beauty, awe-inspiring temples, ancient ruins, bountiful shopping opportunities, pristine beaches and aromatic cuisine. With its proud history, tropical climate and renowned hospitality, the Kingdom is a never-ending source of fascination and pleasure for travellers from across the globe.
Thailand lies in the heart of Southeast Asia, making it a natural gateway to destinations such as Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and China. Its shape and geography divide into four natural regions: the mountains and forests of the North; the vast rice fields of the central plains; the semi-arid farmlands of the northeast plateau; and the tropical islands and long coastline of the southern peninsula.
Not surprisingly, Thailand experiences high temperatures and humidity levels throughout the year. The country is hottest between March and May and monsoon season runs from June to October. In September and October much of the country suffers from flooding, particularly in the north, northeastern and central regions. The cool season, most favoured by tourists, runs from November to February.
