The country setting at Chickadee Christmas Trees in Wellington County is home to beautiful nature trails just waiting to be explored. After you’ve made your choice, check out the Kids’ Activity Area for some mini golf and a chance to sit on Santa’s sleigh, then warm up with complimentary hot apple cider.

Weekend visits to Rinas Christmas Tree Farm (in the Hamilton area) include wagon rides that take you between seven different fields to scope out the options. End your visit with some cider at Ruth’s Warm Up Shelter, a heated on-site cabin.

All through December, Horton Tree Farms runs its annual Christmas Tree Harvest Festival at its three York Region locations. Expect free hayrides and hot chocolate, plus a bonfire to warm you up after exploring their winter wonderland. The Magic Hill location in Stouffville also has tobogganing, a sandbox playground and Munchouse, a cabin with holiday eats and treats.

Although they’re open during the week, there’s more action on weekends at Clembrook Christmas Farm. Mr. and Mrs. Claus could be in attendance (check online for dates), and you can grab a bite at the snack bar before hopping on a wagon ride with views of Rattlesnake Point. Once you’ve cut your tree, sing Christmas tunes around the bonfire, or shop for gifts, collectibles and decorations in their heated barn.

To mix things up a bit, a visit to the MacPherson Christmas Tree Farm includes a scavenger hunt, as well as traditional offerings like a warming tent, wagon rides and hot chocolate on weekends. Finish up your day with a hot dog or homemade baked treat.
