Planning a getaway, but unclear on which travel insurance plan you need? Here’s what to consider.

Find an option that suits you

CAA offers different types of insurance plans, including the Canada Plan and Multi-Trip Plan, but determining which coverage is right for you will depend on where you’re going and your route to get there.

Ensure the plan you’re considering will provide coverage for your entire trip within all the destinations you plan to visit.

Trips within Canada

If your family is planning to drive from Ontario to Quebec, and then to Nova Scotia before returning to Ontario, you would benefit most from CAA’s Canada Plan. You’ll be covered all across Canada.

While OHIP will cover most healthcare costs while you’re in Quebec and Nova Scotia, your provincial health plan won’t cover everything, such as prescriptions, chiropractic services, casts and crutches.

The Canada Plan includes up to $5 million for out-of-pocket emergency medical expenses, such as hospital stays, ambulance services, emergency dental and unexpected illness or injury costs.

Travelling in North America

If you’re travelling from Ontario to Quebec, stopping by New York to shop, then continuing through Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan on the way home, consider CAA’s Multi-Trip Plan. It’s ideal when visiting several provinces and states.

It covers all province, cross-border and international trips in the same 365-day period outside your province or territory of residence for up to four, eight, 15, 30 or 60 days each—including unlimited travel within Canada.

The Multi-Trip Plan also provides emergency medical coverage up to $5 million and covers hospital stays, lab tests, X-rays, nursing and ground ambulance, as well as emergency dental expenses, medical repatriation and medical follow-up in Canada.

Both plans offer 24/7 virtual emergency medical assistance, including phone or video consultations with licensed physicians, including Covid-19 protection1. Family coverage is available too, and CAA Members enjoy savings of 10 percent.

No matter where you plan to go, and what route you choose to get there, ensure a worry-free vacation with the right travel insurance coverage.
