A visit to Las Vegas offers you so much more, beyond the casino floor.
Whether you’re a first-timer or returning visitor, this unique American city always has something to delight and surprise. Here are just a few of our favourites that are a hit with the locals and should be on your must-see list.
Shop for Retro, Designer and Chic Vintage Gems.
A great vintage find can be worth its weight in gold. Whether it’s a mid-century modern light fixture, a cool Bakelite purse or a pair of mint condition, 1920s Mary Janes, you’re guaranteed to stumble upon a curious array of vintage items in downtown Las Vegas.
The majority of the city’s vintage shops are located in the Arts District on Main Street. You’ll be spoiled for choice by tons of antique malls, clothing exchanges, oddities shops, book stores and galleries. Check out Patina, a fantastic one-stop-shop for vintage clothing, furniture and décor.
Take in a Performance at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
Conceived to present the best performances and unite residents of the Las Vegas community, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts offers first-run touring plays and musicals, lectures and internationally acclaimed performers in music, theater and dance. From classical to pop to jazz, there are events and shows for every taste and age.
In addition to world-class performances, the Smith Center is renowned for its architecture. Architect David M. Schwarz was inspired by the Hoover Dam’s Art Deco style and the Smith Centre echos the Dam’s design to make a major and lasting architectural influence in the Las Vegas area. Touring the Center is an excursion in and of itself! If you don’t plan on seeing a performance, it’s worth a visit just to experience the design style and grandiosity.

Visit Whimsical Boutiques, Local Restaurants and Shows.
This is a really cool place to see and it’s free!
Freemont Street is home to the Downtown Container Park. It’s an open-air shopping center featuring retail shops, restaurants and a stage for live music performances, all housed within repurposed shipping containers! Kids will love the playground (including the Treehouse) and the water mist areas of the park while adults can relax with a cold drink and enjoying art installations, free concerts, movies and live bands on the Main Stage. Shop for a variety of eclectic goods and dine on an array of traditional and vegan food options from local vendors.
While at the park, don’t forget to check out The Dome. It’s an ultra HD, 360-degree venue that broadcasts images and sound. Over 36,000 lumens light up an indoor dome set above 25 comfy seats that you recline back to view the show. Currently, for adults, there’s Pink-Floyd: The Wall, Led Zeppelin or U2. Kids will love Perfect Little Planet and Dinosaurs at Dusk.
Eat the Most Delicious Food in the Most Under-hyped Part of the City.
If you’re tired of the hotel buffet, or just want to venture out to try something the locals rave about, you won’t have to travel far. Only three km from the Las Vegas Strip on Spring Mountain Road you’ll find a food Shangri-La in Chinatown.
Traditional Chinese fare will be easy to come by but the culinary scene here is growing. Thai, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Filipino eateries have also set up shop in the district. Delectable dishes from ramen, sushi, Chinese hot pots, pho, Korean BBQ and Sichuan cuisine are some of the most common but you’ll also find a Japanese and Italian fusion restaurant and tasty Taiwanese desserts shops as well.
