Gyeongsangbukdo.

South Korea

The coastal city of Gyeongju in South Korea was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla. Known as the museum without walls, this is a paradise for history buffs, with more tombs, temples, rock carvings, pagodas and palatial ruins than any other place in South Korea.

Insider tip: Soju is the local beverage in South Korea – liked the flavoured versions of it best. When someone hands you a drink, etiquette requires that you take the glass from them with both hands. Receiving the very last drop from a bottle is considered to be good luck.

Casibari Rock Formations.

Aruba

Surrounded by warm turquoise waters and ringed with soft white sand beaches, Aruba is the ideal spot for a Caribbean island getaway. Visiting this beautiful island always makes me happy.

Insider tip: If you want to explore Aruba beyond the beaches, visit the Casibari Rock Formations. You can follow hiking trails and climb to the top of steps carved into the rocks for breathtaking views of the island.

Cozumel.

Mexico

Cozumel is a small island off the shore of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The vibe on Cozumel is more laid back than in the popular tourism spots like Cancun or even Playa Del Carmen, but it still has great beaches, the Caribbean Sea, Mayan ruins, and a charming downtown with cool restaurants, colourful shops and live music.

Insider tip: I have found that the best time to visit Cozumel is in late April and early May. This is the sunniest period when the humidity is lowest. It is also less crowded than in the high vacation season.
