Setting a good example
Within CAA offices and stores, our team members are committed to finding ways to reduce their environmental footprint.
Carpooling
Our associates now have a range of transportation options, besides single-occupancy vehicle commutes, including:
- Carpooling
- Telecommuting
- Discounted transit passes
CAA is also a strong supporter of the new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on highways 403, 404 and soon on the QEW in the GTA.
Recycling
Each year, CAA runs the Great Battery Round-Up. Motorists and Members are encouraged to bring in their old car batteries, so they can be recycled properly.
Government action
CAA South Central Ontario's public and government affairs department strives to increase investment in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) - a form of technology that automatically adjusts lights to match traffic flow in real-time. It's an effective way to reduce unnecessary vehicle emissions caused by congestion.
Incentive programs
CAA South Central Ontario light service operators have been asked to switch their vehicles to new fuel-efficient vehicles, such as hybrids. We've also added a new CAA light-service motorcycle to our fleet.
Advocating for collaborative action
CAA is committed to further development of the Autogreen program to actively address Members' environmental concerns.
Saving energy
CAA has an ongoing commitment to investigate new ways to use more efficient technologies in our day-to-day operations throughout every line of business - including travel, insurance and automotive.
