A CAA membership covers the following services to place your vehicle in a drivable condition. If, after a reasonable effort by the service provider these attempts are unsuccessful, the towing service provisions will apply.
If you are experiencing problems with your battery, Battery Assist, our mobile battery service, will test, boost and replace your battery, if and when required. Where available, a trained technician will produce a printed report showing the remaining life of your battery and if your battery needs to be replaced, the technician can sell and install one on the spot for you.
If your keys are locked inside your vehicle, service will be sent to gain entry. If your keys are lost, broken or the service provider cannot gain entry into your vehicle, locksmith service (or reimbursement for locksmith service) will be provided:
A supply of gasoline will be delivered to your disabled vehicle to enable you to reach the nearest open service station. (Specific brands or octane cannot be promised.)
In certain situations, a tow may be provided to a facility where fuel is available.
If your vehicle's spare tire is inflated and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire. If no inflated spare is available, your vehicle will be towed according to your towing benefit.
Your vehicle will be extricated/winched if it can be reached safely from a normally travelled road. If special equipment, additional manpower or additional vehicles are required:
Minor mechanical adjustments not requiring parts or supplies can be made in an attempt to get your vehicle moving safely under its own power.
Your personal cheque for up to $400 will be accepted if your vehicle requires service at a CAA-approved vehicle repair facility or with a CAA Roadside Assistance provider. A valid CAA membership card must be presented at the time of payment. The name on the cheque must match the Member name.
If attempts to make your vehicle operable at roadside have been unsuccessful, free towing will be provided. Your vehicle will be towed free of charge to a facility of your choice, up to:
Heavy-service demands during severe weather may cause delays. In such circumstances, CAA reserves the right to limit towing to the nearest available place of safety. If your vehicle is already in a safe place such as a private or public garage or driveway, CAA reserves the right to service the vehicle only after the heavy demand and/or weather condition has passed.
Primary and Associate Members are entitled to four Road Service calls each during a membership year. Once the number of calls has been exceeded, roadside assistance benefits will be suspended. CAA will continue to provide services at a preferred rate. However, the Member must pay the contractor at the time of service on a cash-on-demand basis.
CAA does not accept appointments for service calls, and membership does not cover the following:
NOTE: Motorcycles with or without sidecar are covered under CAA Plus coverage. However, due to differences in service terms in the U.S., Members should expect to pay for service provided to motorcycles while travelling in the U.S. and may submit their original receipts to their Club for reimbursement.
If you do not use a CAA Contractor, follow these guidelines:
NOTE: Cost of accommodation and incidental expenses (e.g., taxi fare) are not reimbursed unless breakdown is the result of an accident involving collision. See Trip Accident Assistance.
