All the Things to get Excited About At this Year's AutoShow

Get your motor running with cool car debuts, the world’s most exclusive Bugatti and big contests at the 2020 event

A crowd explores exhibits at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto, Ont.

Deep-freeze days may be upon us, but for gearheads, winter also means it’s auto show season. Up next is the 2020 Canadian International AutoShow, which takes place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from February 14 to February 23. Here’s a sneak peek at what we might see.

New releases and models

Showcasing more than 1,000 vehicles, we're predicting that the show’s impressive display of snazzy metal will include the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and the sharp-looking mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette. There will be some new car debuts as well, which may include an all-wheel drive Chrysler Pacifica minivan featuring revised styling.

Electric vehicle test drives

Back by popular demand is the EV Test Drive Program, which features 18 electric vehicles from major car companies that are available for free test drives. The initiative fits nicely with the show’s 2020 theme, Transformative Times.

A show-stopping Bugatti

La Voiture Noire, the world’s most exclusive Bugatti, is guaranteed to impress. The extravagant, one-of-a-kind car was sold to a Bugatti enthusiast for 11 million euros (more than $16 million CAD). Powered by a 16-cylinder engine, it pumps out a sky-high 1,500 horsepower and can accelerate to highway speeds in less than 2.5 seconds.

A Canadian supercar

However, it’s not just mainstream brands that are set to show off their best. The Felino cB7, billed as only the second-ever supercar made in Canada, will be showcased in the Auto Exotica pavilion. Conceived and built in Montreal, the race-inspired rocket was a decade in the making. Its successor, the road-legal cB7R, will be available this year.

Awards and contests

Automakers and enthusiasts will be watching closely to see who wins the Canadian Car of the Year, a prize handed out during the show. Other notable events include the WorldGaming Network’s popular Forza 7 North American Championship competition and the Rock the Road Raffle for a chance to win two Toyota Supras.
