Why do I love being a Travel Consultant?

I’ve always loved to travel, explore and discover different cultures. It’s pure joy for me to share this with like-minded CAA Members and work together to craft an unforgettable experience. After 20 years in this business, I still love the planning and look forward to exchanging stories and seeing photos when travellers return from a trip we created together.

My top travel picks.

It’s a beautiful world out there. Some of my favourite places are on the other side of it. Others are right here in our own backyard. These are the destinations that have moved me and changed me. Enjoy looking through them and then get in touch! Together we’ll craft your dream trip.

Chiang Mai.

Thailand

Thailand is one of my favourite vacation destinations. It’s known as the “Land of Smiles.” The people are welcoming and kind, the food is amazing and the city of Chiang Mai is beautiful. There is a saying that goes “If you haven't tasted Khao Soi or seen the view from Doi Suthep, you haven't been to Chiang Mai." So, try some Khao Soi and take a trip to the Theravada Buddhist temple of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. This is a sacred site in Thailand that sits on a mountain from which the views are spectacular. And you must visit the elephants in Chaing Mai and learn how they are being protected by the people of Thailand.

Insider tip: Spend a day feeding, bathing and riding the elephants. Once you get to know these gentle creatures, you’ll be longing to return.

Bangkok.

Thailand

The city of Bangkok is truly a feast for the senses – there is so much to take in! There are fantastic markets as well as the incredible floating markets and crowded night markets.

Visit Wat Pho to see the 46-metre long reclining Buddha, marvel at the majesty of the Grand Palace and take a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River that flows right through the city.

Insider tip: Get to the floating markets early, before 9:00am, as they get very busy and close in the early afternoon. Beware of inflated prices as these markets attract lots of tourists.

British Columbia.

Canada

Another favourite destination of mine is right in our own backyard, the beautiful province of British Columbia.

Vancouver is a bustling, energetic city with lots to see and do. Whistler, of course, has amazing skiing and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world with majestic mountains. It doesn’t matter how many times you see them, the seem more beautiful every time. Take the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Insider tip: In autumn head to Goldstream Provincial Park to see the spawning of the Chum salmon, who have traveled thousands of kilometres to get there. What better reminder do you need that nature is awesome!
