Come fall, Muskoka’s colour show shines from its forests to its spectacular cranberry farms. Go explore, sampling cranberry-inspired delicacies along the way.

Itinerary

Day 1

Head towards Muskoka Lakes, where the beauty of the lake and the fall colours are in full splendour. One of the best ways to experience the reds, ochres and golds is to take a fall cruise. Muskoka Steamships depart from Gravenhurst for one or two-hour cruises that give you front row views of the famous grand estates in the area.

Day 2

There’s nothing quite like the Canadian Signature Experience of a visit to a working cranberry bog at Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery. Cranberry harvest begins on September 25, so if you want to put on hip waders and wander the bog, you’ll need to make a reservation. While you’re there, visit the farm shop, sample the wines or head out for a hike on the property.

Craving something a bit more adventurous? Try a treetop trek along the canopy. These are available both in Huntsville and Bracebridge.

You can also spend the day on the links, perfecting your swing. The region’s beautiful golf courses stay open into October.

Day 3

If you have some extra time, consider taking a hike or two. Some of the best vantage points to marvel at the fall colours are from these hiking trails:

Huntsville: Lions Lookout
Muskoka Lakes: Huckleberry Rock Lookout
Lake of Bays: Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower
Algonquin Park: Track and Tower
