I have travelled to different areas in South Africa, including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Garden Route. Each is unique and exciting and, with all of them, the people are warm and friendly. The food is amazing, and if you enjoy fine wines, this place is for you. Of course, you must go on a safari. A safari is an amazing, fascinating and unforgettable adventure – a bucket list-must!
Insider tip: Don’t skip the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. This is an important opportunity to learn about the history of apartheid, which is central to the story of 20th Century South Africa.
This rail journey in Western Canada is amazing. The landscape and views are absolutely incredible, not to mention the wildlife. The staff on the train is so eager to make you comfortable, and you are spoiled all day with superb food and fine wines. Onboard commentary covers local history and information to enhance the experience.
Insider tip: When choosing a route, consider the Rainforest to Goldrush journey, which travels through the coastal rainforest and the Fraser Canyon into the ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. It’s unique and stunning.
Italy is a cultural wonder, famous for legendary art and architecture, amazing landscapes and gourmet food and wine. Italy offers a wealth of experiences, from exploring the backstreets of Rome on a Vespa, to truffle hunting in Tuscany, to taking in an opera performance in Verona’s Roman amphitheater. Go wine tasting on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius or join a workshop on traditional mask-making in Venice. Italy's rich history and culture is revealed at every turn.
Insider tip: Rail is the best way to get around Italy. It’s easy to buy tickets, they always announce the next stop in advance and they sell drinks and snacks on board (or you can take your own).
