Why do I love being a Travel Consultant?

The travel industry is constantly changing and evolving, there are endless opportunities to learn about new destinations and ways to travel. I love being at the forefront of this and sharing this knowledge with our CAA Members.

My top travel picks.

I’m lucky that I get to travel the world and constantly discover new places and cultures. Let’s look at pictures of some of my favourite places and maybe you’ll be inspired to create your own trip.

1 / 3

Labadee Beach.

Haiti

Cruises have so much to offer. Even if people are skeptical first-time cruisers, they almost always end up having an amazing time. Travellers can fill their vacation with as many (or as few) activities as they please.

My most recent trip was with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines with a stop at the Port of Labadee, Haiti. I booked an excursion for the “dragons Breath” zipline (approx. 500ft above sea level!) It was a lot of fun and I am so glad I did this. The beach is gorgeous, and this is a great port to just wander around and enjoy the sun and sand.

Insider tip: Look at the ship as a destination in itself. Ships often have many fun activities to offer, delicious food and drinks and excellent quality shows.

Bacalar.

Mexico

Whether you’re in search of a luxury resort or a budget experience, Mexico offers a dizzying array of possibilities. In Mexico you’ll find big, crowded cities, ancient ruins, stunning landscapes, gorgeous beaches, adventure and more. As one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, Mexico is perfect for nature lovers. How does releasing baby sea turtles or diving and snorkeling around the world’s second largest barrier reef sound? Find out in Mexico!

Insider tip: No matter where you port in Mexico, take a shore excursion to a secluded beach or hidden lagoon to escape the hustle and bustle of the cruise and absorb a bit of the local atmosphere.

Havana.

Cuba

Cuba is a unique destination, famous for classic American cars, music, mojitos and cigars. Those are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of Cuba. Visit Havana and take a tour in a vintage automobile, see some of the best live music of your life, marvel at the Baroque and Neoclassical architecture and savour the food. Cuba is an unparalleled experience.

Insider tip: The internet is not widely available in Cuba. You might as well just embrace it and enjoy life, “unplugged” for as long as you can. The good news? There’s tons to keep you occupied in Cuba!
