Route itinerary.

View the exciting itinerary we have put together for this tour.
Day 1-2

Venice

Explore the island and its alleys, cruise the canals, or relax in St. Mark’s Square. Marvel at the greatness of St. Mark’s Basilica and the impressive Doge's Palace, take in a church concert or enjoy the nightlife in this unique medieval city.

Day 3-4

Lake Como

Wander the villages and waterways of scenic Lake Como, including a stop at the beautiful resort town of Bellagio. Car ferries and water buses criss-cross the lake in season, making it easy to hop between Cernobbio, Tremezzo and Varenna. Hike up into the Alpine foothills for unforgettable vistas.

Day 5-6

Cinque Terre – The Italian Riviera

Explore the steps and back alleys of any of the five unique fishing villages situated within the Cinque Terre National Park. This area is a hiker’s paradise, with paths weaving through vineyards beside the aqua blue waters of the Italian Riviera.

Day 7-8

Pisa and Florence

On the banks of the Arno River you’ll find the town of Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower. Follow the river to the city of Florence, which cycling buffs may want to discover by rented bicycle. In the historical centre of the city, getting around by bike is very practical, as many areas are closed off to motor traffic. Must-see attractions include Brunelleschi's magnificent cathedral dome and Ghiberti's baptistery door. Visit the Accademia Gallery and gaze upon “David”, one of the most famous works of the sculptural genius Michelangelo. Stroll the medieval Ponte Vecchio, a covered bridge that spans the Arno River and is packed with shops. Visit several of the city's art-filled churches and museums and browse its colourful markets. No trip to Florence would be complete without indulging in the city’s famous ice cream, called gelato.

Day 9-10

Tuscany

Consider joining a bike tour to discover the Tuscany region at a slower pace. Bikes are a perfect way to explore the quiet narrow roads that lead to the many hilltop towns. Imagine the memories you’ll create as you pedal along winding roads flanked by red poppies, cypress trees and rolling hills. Along the way you’ll see iconic sights such as the soaring towers of San Gimignano and the Piazza del Campo in Siena, and have the chance to hunt for antique bargains in Arezzo. Make your way to the beautifully preserved town of Assisi, the hometown of St. Francis. View the magnificently frescoed Basilica of St. Francis and amble through this charming town and its surrounding hills. To complete your memorable Italian road trip, head for ancient Rome.

Day 11-13

Rome

Throw coins in the Trevi Fountain, explore the Colosseum, or wander the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica – Rome has something for everyone. Visit the Jewish Ghetto across the Tiber River and learn about its rich history. Rome is a fast-paced city that is surprisingly easy to navigate. Before you say “arrivederci” to Italy, take some time to relax with a cappuccino or gelato; although Rome is not quite the ice cream mecca that Florence is, Rome's gelato is still heavenly.
