The County offers visitors an array of outdoor activities, tours of scenic natural wonders and delicious artisanal fare that's available year-round.

Itinerary

Day 1

Start in Belleville for a guided tour of the largest cave and cavern site in the province at Tyendinaga Caves. Explore the depths of these natural caves to see geological formations and fossils that are over 450 million years old. From the caves, The County is just a short 30-minute drive away.

Plan your next stop at beautiful Sandbanks Provincial Park. Boasting three sandy beaches and over 600 campsites, it makes a wonderful escape for the day, weekend or for longer stays.

If you're up for an animal encounter, be sure to check out a working alpaca farm at Noble Beast Farms. You could also visit Farm 77 where you can see how sheep rearing is done by the locals.

Of course, a must when visiting The County, is a stop at one of the many local wineries that dot the region – like Sandbanks Estate Winery.

Day 2

Enjoy another local experience with a stop at the Curious Goat General Store in Milford. Stay for the one-hour Bee Experience and learn all about hives, honey and even make a beeswax product!

You might also want to make a stop at one of The County’s first original cheese houses, Black River Cheese. Choose from a large selection of log and naturally smoked cheeses to enjoy for a picnic or to take home. As you continue through the area, we recommend a stop at The County Cider Company or a break for lunch at the Waupoos Estates Winery.

As you travel through the area, you'll reach yet another artisanal cheese shop. Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Co. includes a fruit orchard, cheese making facility and a bustling retail shop. Pick your favourite from an array of cheeses made with goat, cow and even water buffalo milk.
